GDPR Certification and CE Marking under the AI Act: Where Do They Meet?

A DAPROLAB session dedicated to GDPR certification and CE marking under the EU AI Act will take place on 14 October 2026, organised by the Luxembourg National Commission for Data Protection (CNPD).

Vasiliki Tsiompanidou, Legal Project Manager at the European Centre for Certification and Privacy (ECCP), will join experts and practitioners to discuss how the two frameworks relate in practice, where they differ and where compliance efforts may be streamlined.

GDPR Certification and CE Marking in Practice

The session will examine the relationship between GDPR certification and CE marking under the AI Act, with a focus on the practical questions professionals face when working with both frameworks.

The discussion will address areas of complementarity and tension between the two approaches, opportunities to coordinate compliance efforts, documentation challenges and practical experience with their implementation.

Rather than a traditional training session, DAPROLAB is structured as a working dialogue between experts and practitioners, allowing participants to exchange experience and discuss the application of both frameworks.

Speakers

Besides Vasiliki Tsiompanidou from ECCP, the session will feature:

  • Dr Carsten Ullrich, University of Luxembourg Institute of Digital Ethics (ULIDE)
  • Ekkehard Babion, Product Conformity Manager, Siemens Energy
